NEW SET OF SRIVARI PADALU IN NARAYANAGIRI
TIRUMALA, SEPT 18: Following the scratch caused to the historically significant Srivari Padalu located in the highest peak of Narayanagiri in Tirumala, TTD has replaced the holy feet with a new set on Wednesday. Special puja has also been performed in a formal way.
Later addressing the media persons the TTD Chairman Sri K Bapiraju, TTD EO Sri MG Gopal and Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju said, that keeping in view the sentiments of the visiting pilgrims, TTD in quick gesture has replaced the old one with new. “It may take another three or four days for the completion of covering works. Later the devotees will be allowed as usual”, the Chairman said.
TTD EO said, a scratch proof glass is also under making which will cover the holy feet so that no damage is caused in future, he maintained.
While the JEO said, “the scratch is being caused unknowingly due to the breaking of coconuts by some pilgrims. However as per agamas there is no mention of any worship or avahana that is being carried out to these holy feet. So we have decided not to allow the pilgrims to break coconuts in this point in future”.
