Tirumala, 28 February 2017: To enhance longevity and strength to all the Tandlu (special type wooden logs prepared from the roots of banyan tree used to carry vahanan processions), their treatment should be done twice in a year, said TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao.

The weekly review meeting by TTD EO along with Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju with all HoDs of Tirumala took place at Annamaiah Bhavan on Tuesday. During the review meeting, he instructed the DFO Sri Siva Ram Prasad to treat the tandlu twice in a year with an interval of every six months. “The treatment should be perfectly carried out with neem oil, turmeric and camphor to avoid the fungal formation and improve the life of the Tandlu”.

Meanwhile about 70 pairs of Tandlu are existing with TTD. The EO also instructed the DFO to prepare a list of available Tandlu and segregate them as per the requirement in all TTD run temples. “There should not be overstock or shortage of Tandlu in any temple. And the excess stock should be maintained in a store room in Sri Govinda Raja Swamy temple and should be provided to any temple on necessity.

The EO directed the Transport GM Sri Sesha Reddy and CMO Dr N Vikas to design a battery vehicle to move around the VQC compartments so as to give medical aid to the waiting pilgrims on requirement.

He also instructed the CEO SVBC Sri Narasimha Rao to utilise latest technology to showcase the live telecast of Srivari Kalyanotsavam and Nada Neerajanam programmes besides applying latest and different video techniques.
