Tirumala, 15 February 2025: TTD will stand as an example for other temples in the country in terms of waste management, asserted Sri Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, the Additional EO of TTD.

He took the Swachh Andhra pledge on Saturday with the TTD officials at the laddu counter in Tirumala on Saturday. 

On this occasion, the Additional EO said that cleanliness is a reflection of civilization and culture, and there is a saying that where cleanliness is good, there is good governance and discipline.  

He said that henceforth the Swachh Tirumala program will be conducted on the third Saturday of every month as part of Swachh Andhra Pradesh.  Many programs have been undertaken for cleanliness in Tirumala.  He said that 1200 personnel have been working round the clock for keeing Tirumala premises clean and tidy.

The TTD health department is monitoring the sanitation from time to time. 

He said that for the last seven months in Tirumala, we have been paying special attention towards waste management.  He said that 2 lakh tonnes of garbage accumulated in the Tirumala dumping yard has been converted into manure.  Another 40 thousand metric tons of legacy waste will be removed in the next two months.

It is said that 78 metric tons of wet and dry garbage is generated in Tirumala every day.  It has been revealed that 1.5 metric tonnes of gas will be produced from 45 metric tonnes of wet waste through the IOCL plant being set up in Tirumala from June and will be used in the Prasada centre called Tarigonda Vengamamba in Tirumala. 

In the feedback collected from the devotees during the special occasion of Ratha Saptami in Tirumala, 97 percent of the devotees expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness.  Even though there was a huge amount of waste, it was informed that the next moment the garbage was removed and moved to the dumping yard. 

He informed that everyone should be a partner in the Swachh Tirumala program and if all the devotees follow the instructions of TTD and separate the garbage with discipline and put it in the prescribed garbage bins, the work of the sanitation staff will be easier.

As part of Swachh Andhra Pradesh, TTD officials took the Swachh Andhra Pledge on Saturday at the TTD Administration building in Tirupati.  

On this occasion, the employees were made aware that wet garbage, dry garbage and chemical garbage should be thrown separately.  

TTD CE Sri Satya Narayana, Additional Health Officer Dr Sunil Kumar and other officials participated in this program.
