ANDAL MALA PRESENTED TO LORD VENKATESWARA

Tirumala, 29 September 2014: Devotees of Lord Venkateswara hailing from Srivallioputhur today presented traditional garlands made of tulasi, sevanthi and sampangi flowers.

Two garlands Andal Mala and Shikamani Mala were brought for offering by two families of flower makers of Srivalliputhur, 650 kms from Tirupati. They were presented by two families of R.Ramesh and S.Suresh were accompanied by around 50 devotees who came in several vehicles cayying the garlands on their heads.

The Malas were presented to  the  H.H. Ramanuja Pedda Jeeyar  who in turn present it  personally at the sanctum of Lord Venkateswara to night or tomorrow morning.

Accepting the  Garlands  for Lord Venkateswara  Pedda Jeeyar swamy said the Mala(garland)was part of the holy dictum of Sri Ramanauja to present the Godadevi malas for the Brahmotsavam and the prestigious Garuda seva day. ‘Lord Venkateswara will be adorned with the Andal mala, sare and two other holy items ‘presented by the Goda devi temple of Srivilliputtur ‘he said

Legend says that the garlands were worn by Goda Devi, who considered herself as consort of Srikrishna. The garlands are presented on the day of Garuda Vahanam, on the day Lord Venkateswara presents himself to devotees in his avatar as Maha Vishnu.

TTD Executive Officer Sri MG Gopal, Joint Executive Officer Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, DyEO Sri Chinnamgari Ramana, Peishkar Sri Selvam and others took part.
