The ”Appapadi” is an age old ritual that continues unbroken through the ages which will presented on the auspicious occasions of the observance of the birth star festivals of eminent Sri Vaishnava Acharyas, several auspicious this month.
In this connection, special Appapadi ceremonies will be organized at Sri Govindarajaswami Temple in Tirupati that includes Tirumala Nambi Sattumura on October 24, Manavala Mahamuni Sattumura on October 27, Vedanta Desikan Sattumura on October 30.
On the occasion of the Tirunakshatra celebrations of these great Sri Vaishnava saints of 14th and 15th centuries, the traditional Appapadi will be sent from Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, to the ancient Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple at Tirupati.
The Appapadi consists of 51 Appams(a sweet) along with camphor and sandalwood. Special pujas will be performed at the Tirumala temple in the presence of the Archakas, Jeeyar Swamis and officials.
The temple Paricharakas will then carry the Appapadi in a ceremonial procession through the four Mada streets around the temple, finally reaching Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple at Tirupati.
From there, the disciples of the respective Acharya traditions will carry the offerings in a devotional procession and perform Sattumura at the respective sanctums dedicated to the Sri Vaishnava Acharyas in Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple.

తిరుమల, 2025 అక్టోబర్ 22: వేంకటేశ్వర స్వామివారి అనాదికాలపరంపరగా కొనసాగుతున్న వైష్ణవ సాంప్రదాయాల్లో ఒకటైన అప్పపడి నివేదన విశిష్టమైన ఆచారం. భక్తుల పట్ల తమ అపార కరుణను ప్రతిఫలింపజేస్తూ శ్రీవారు స్వయంగా తమ భక్తులకు ప్రసాదాన్ని పంపించే ఆచారంగా దీనిని భావిస్తారు.
స్వామివారి సేవలో తరించిన శ్రీ వైష్ణవ భక్తాగ్రేసుల వర్ష తిరు నక్షత్రోత్సవాలను పవిత్ర దినాలుగా వ్యవహరించడం కద్దు. అందులో భాగంగా ఈ మాసంలో ఎంతోమంది శ్రీ వైష్ణవాచార్యుల తిరు నక్షత్రోత్సవాలు ఉన్నాయి.
ఈ సందర్భంగా తిరుపతిలోని శ్రీ గోవిందరాజస్వామి ఆలయంలో అక్టోబర్ 24న తిరుమల నంబి శాత్తుమొర, అక్టోబర్ 27న మణవాళ మహామునుల శాత్తుమొర, అక్టోబర్ 30న వేదాంత దేశికుల శాత్తుమొర నిర్వహించనున్నారు.
తిరుమల నంబి
తిరుమల నంబి శ్రీవారి భక్తి పరంపరలో ప్రముఖ శ్రీవైష్ణవ ఆచార్యులు. 11వ శతాబ్దంలో జీవించిన ఆయన శ్రీ వేంకటేశ్వరునికి నిత్యసేవ చేయడమే జీవిత ధర్మంగా భావించిన మహాభక్తుడు. ఆకులతో నీటిని కొండపైకి తీసుకెళ్లి స్వామివారికి సేవ చేసిన సేవామూర్తి గా ఆయన ప్రసిద్ధి చెందారు.
మణవాళ మహామునులు
మణవాళ మహామునుల వారు 15వ శతాబ్దానికి చెందిన ప్రముఖ శ్రీవైష్ణవ ఆచార్యులు. రామానుజీయ విశిష్టాద్వైత సిద్ధాంతాన్ని ప్రజల్లో విస్తరించి, గురుపరంపర పరిరక్షణలో అపూర్వ కృషి చేసి “శిష్య తిలకము” అనే బిరుదు పొందిన మహోన్నత ఆచార్యులు.
వేదాంత దేశికులు
వేదాంత దేశికుల వారు 13–14వ శతాబ్దాలకు చెందిన మహానుభావ శ్రీవైష్ణవ ఆచార్యులు, తత్వవేత్తలు మరియు కవులు. విశిష్టాద్వైత సిద్ధాంతాన్ని రక్షించి, ప్రచారం చేసి, “కవి తార్కిక సింహం”, “వేదాంతాచార్యులు” వంటి బిరుదులు పొందారు. సంస్కృతం మరియు తమిళంలో 120కు పైగా గ్రంథాలు రచించిన వీరు శ్రీరామానుజాచార్యుల ఉపదేశాలను ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా స్థిరపరచిన మహామహులు.
వీరి వర్ష తిరు నక్షత్రోత్సవాల సందర్భంగా తిరుమల శ్రీవారి ఆలయం నుండి శ్రీ గోవిందరాజస్వామి ఆలయానికి అప్పపడిని పంపడం సాంప్రదాయంగా వస్తోంది. తమ భక్తులకు స్వామివారు స్వయంగా ప్రసాదాలను పంపే ఆచారంగా దీనిని భావిస్తారు.
ఈ పడిలో 51 అప్పాలు, పచ్చ కర్పూరం, గంధపు చెక్క ఉంచి తిరుమల అర్చకులు, జీయర్ స్వాములు, అర్చకుల సమక్షంలో శ్రీవారి ఆలయంలో ప్రత్యేక పూజలు నిర్వహిస్తారు.
ఈ పడిని పోటు పరిచారకులు ఆలయ నాలుగు మాడ వీధుల గుండా ఊరేగిస్తూ తిరుపతిలోని శ్రీ కోదండరామ స్వామి ఆలయానికి చేర్చుతారు. ఆయా సన్నిధికి చెందిన ఆచార్య పురుషుల శిష్యుల ద్వారా పడిని ఊరేగింపుగా తీసుకువెళ్లి గోవిందరాజస్వామి ఆలయంలో వెలసివున్న ఆయా ఆచార్యుల సన్నిధిలో శాత్తుమొర నిర్వహిస్తారు.
