KOLATAM, CHANDA MELAM CAPTIVATES DEVOTEES DURING SIMHA VAHANAM SEVA _ సింహ ‌వాహన‌సేవ‌లో ఆక‌ట్టుకున్న చండ మేళం

TIRUPATI, 10 FEBRUARY 2026: As part of the ongoing annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram, devotees were enthralled by the vibrant Chanda Melam and Kolatam cultural performances during the Simha Vahanam Seva held on Tuesday morning.

The cultural programmes were organised under the auspices of the TTD Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad and Dasasahitya Project.

The Kerala Drums popular by the traditional name ‘Chanda Melam’ was performed by the Sri Srikar troupe of Swami Koragajja Kala Samithi from Udupi, Karnataka.

The troupe, consisting of 10 artistes, played drums in perfect rhythm, synchronised with energetic dance movements. 

The artistes have been participating in Brahmotsavams of TTD-affiliated temples for the past eight years.

Likewise, Kolatam dance performances by various cultural troupes added colour and vibrancy to the event and captivated the devotees.

These included 16 artistes from Hare Srinivasa Kolata Bhajana troupe of Suryapet, Telangana,

100 artistes from Sri Lakshmi Ganapati, Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Sri Satyakrishna Bhajana Mandali of Krishnayyapalem, West Godavari district,

15 artistes from Tadepalligudem, and cultural troupes from Tirupati.

The performances enhanced the spiritual fervour of the Simha Vahanam Seva and drew an enthusiastic response from devotees.
