TIRUMALA REVERBERATES TO THE PANCHARATNAKRITIS OF SADGURU TYAGARAJA

Tirumala, 26 April 2015: The hill town of Tirumala experienced a unique feel on Sunday evening when the entire environs reverberated to the melodious Pancharatnakritis composed by Sadguru Tyagarja Swamy on the auspicious occasion of his 248th Jayanthi Mahotsavam conducted by SV College of Music and Dance.

About 250 eminent vocalists and instrumentalists hailing from Telugu speaking States, TN, Karnataka and Kerala took part in this religious fete of “Vaggeyakara Vaibhavotsavam” organised in Kalyana Vedika in Tirumala.

TTD EO who graced the programme said that the great Saint composer was born in 1767 in Kurnool district of AP and composed over 800 keertans dedicated to Lord Sri Rama before he breathed his last in 1847 in 80 years of his life span which included the famous Pancharatna Kritis.

“The glory of Carnatic Music reached its pinnacle with great compositions of Tyagayya and hence he was given the title “Nada Brahma”, he added.

The EO said, “In 1839 he happened to visit Tirumala and penned some noteworthy keertans including “Terateeyaga Rada”, “Venkatesa Ninu Sevimpa”, “Evarini Sevinthura”, “Srivenkatesa Suprakasa”.

Tirupati Jeo in his address said TTD has been observing the Aradhana Mahotsavams of Saint Musical Composer, Sadguru Sri Tyagaraja Swmy every year in a grand manner similar toTiruvayur Tyagaraja Utsavams from the past four years.

CVSO Sri Nagendra Kumar, DEO Sri Vijay Kumar, Dy EO Smt Baby Sarojini,SV college of music and dance principal Smt YVS Padmavathi and others were also present.

While renowned scholar Sri Mulukutla Brahmananda Sastry anchored the programme.
