TRANSLATION OF ASTADASA PURANAS SHOULD BE SPEED UP

TIRUPATI, FEB 24: With an aim to propagate Hindu Sanatana Dharma, TTD has taken up the translation of great works into Telugu and the translation works of Asthdasa Puranas in Telugu need to be speed up, said TTD EO Dr D Samba Siva Rao.

Reviewing the translation works of Puranetihasa Project of TTD in Tirupati in SPRH on Tuesday, the EO said, Puranas and Ithihas are the ancient literary texts and scriptures in Sanskrit which speak about the glory of the great Hindu Sanatana Dharma. In order to disseminate this information to the public in Telugu, TTD has began Purana-Ithihasa Project in the year 2009. Vishnu, Bhagavatha, Garuda, Padma, Varaha, Vamana, Kurma, Brahma, Matsya, Brahmanda, Brahmavaivartha, Markandeya, Bhavisha, Shiva, Linga, Skandha, Agni are the 18 Purnasa scripted in sanskrit and they consists of over 3,70,000 slokas.

These have been classified and divided into 47 and the translation works have been given to scholars. So far 50% works have been completed and the remaining works should be completed in a faster pace”, EO sought the scholars.
Project Special Officer Dr Samudrala Lakshmanaiah, Dy EO of All Projects Smt Sharada and other project officers were also present.
