TTD ASTHANA VIDWAN AND EMINENT VOCALIST SRI NEDANURI PASSES AWAY

TIRUPATI, DEC 8: Renowned Canatic music maestro and TTD Asthana Vidwan Sri Nedanuri Krishnamurthy passed away during the wee hours of Monday in Visakhapatnam. TTD Specified Authority Chairman Sri JC Sharma, EO Sri M G Gopal, JEOs Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju and Sri P Bhaskar expressed their condolences to the bereaved family of the music maestro.

Meanwhile Sri Krishnamurthy was born on October 10, 1927, in Kothapalli in Peethapuram of East Godavari district to Rama Murthy Panthulu and Vijayalakshmi. He received initial training in Violin and Vocal from the Dwaram Narasinga Rao Naidu. In 1949, he was influenced by carnatic vocalist, Sripada Pinakapani, and under his guidance developed his style of music.

His foremost contribution was the setting to tune of 108 compositions of Annamacharya, the 15th century saint-poet of Andhra Pradesh which became so popular among the devotees. He served as the fourth Principal of Sri SV College of Music and Dance of TTD from 1973 to 1976. He was conferred with many titles including Nada yogi, Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Sangeetha Choodamani etc.

The officials of TTD Annamacharya Project and SV Music and Dance college organised a condolence meeting in their office premises on Monday and observed two minutes silence. Later they remembered the great contributions made by Sri Nedanuri in the field of carnatic music. Annamacharya In-Charge Project Director and Special Grade Dy EO Sri Munirathnam Reddy, SV College of Music and Dance Principal Smt YVS Padmavathi were also present.
