TTD MUSEUM TO DISPLAY 5000 YRS OF HISTORICAL GLORY OF TIRUMALA!

TIRUMALA, SEPT 10: Sri Venkateswara Museum at Tirumala, one of the renowned theosophical museums in the world, is all set to come out with innovative display that will depic the 5000 years of glorious history of Tirumala during the annual Srivari Brahmotsavams which is slated for October 5.

The museum is situated in a sprawling area of 1.25lakh sq.ft opposite to Vaikuntham Queue Complex in Tirumala and houses 12 gallaries which includes photo gallery, stone sculpture gallery, armaments gallery, instrument gallery, bronze idol gallery etc. and house rare articrafts that belong to 1st Century to 20th Century AD.

However, the Chief Museum Officer of TTD Sri J Vijay Kumar, said, “Earlier this museum is located inside 1000 pillar mandapam when it was brought in to ligt in 1980. Later the location is shifted to the new building in 1997-98. The pagodas (apex) of the museum have been constructed in the form of Akshardham of Gujrat”, he added.

Briefing on the brahmotsavam arrangements, the Museum Chief said, “Last year, we have received huge response for our expo during annual brahmotsavams. This year we are planning to display the rare picture of old Tirumala sketched by a British officer in 1874 which we collected from Archives from Hyderabad. We have also sent a proposal to the management for the permission to display the Annamaiah copper plate manuscripts, rare antique coins hailing from Roman era to British era that was being found in Srivari Hundi at Tirumala. Apart from this we are also planning to display 108 divya desams, some pictoral routes connecting Tirumala from Alipiri, Chandragiri,
Mamandur, Bhakrapet etc. painted by our artist Sri Anand”, he added.

Adding further, the officer said, “This year our expo will be unique with the rare and antique pieces put for display. Nearly 20lakh pilgrims throng Tirumala during the nine-day annual brahmotsavams.

About 60% of them make their visit to the exhibitions. So we are sure that our expo will enhance awareness among pilgrim public about the historical significance of Tirumala”, he maintained.
