KOIL ALWAR TIRUMANJANAM AT SRI KAPILESWARA SWAMY TEMPLE ON FEBRUARY 4 _ ఫిబ్రవరి 4న శ్రీ కపిలేశ్వరస్వామివారి ఆలయంలో కోయిల్ ఆళ్వార్ తిరుమంజనం
Tirupati, 02 February 2026: The traditional temple cleansing ritual, the Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam will be performed at the Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati, on February 4 prior to the annual Brahmotsavams which is scheduled from February 8 to February 17.
In view of this ritual, devotees will be permitted for darshan from 8 a.m. to 11a.m. and again from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Significance of Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple:
The presiding deity of Sri Siva at Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple was consecrated by Sage Kapila Maharshi, after whom the temple tank came to be known as Kapila Theertham.
The temple is located at the foothills of Tirumala and is situated at the entrance of a natural cave.
The water flowing down from the Tirumala hills directly falls into the Kapila Theertham Pushkarini, hence the name of the temple tank is called Kapila Theertham.
A large stone Nandi idol is situated in front of the temple, facing the deity and offering darshan to the devotees.
According to the Sthalapurana, when Sage Kapila performed penance at this place, Lord Siva and Goddess Parvati appeared before him, pleased with his austerities.
The Siva Lingam here is believed to be Swayambhu (self-manifested).
There is also a shrine of Nammalwar near the temple, due to which the theertham is also referred to as Alwar Theertham.
Apart from the main temple, the complex houses shrines of various other deities including Sri Kamakshi, Vinayaka, Subramanya, Dakshinamurthy, Nataraja, Kotilingeswara, Agastheeswara and the Navagrahas, where rituals are performed as per Saiva Agama traditions.
The shrines of Sru Lakshmi Narayana Swamy, Sri Venugopala Swamy and Abhaya Hasta Anjaneya Swamy located in the temple premises follow Pancharatra and Vaikhanasa Agama traditions respectively.

తిరుపతి, 2026 ఫిబ్రవరి 02: తిరుపతి శ్రీ కపిలేశ్వరస్వామివారి ఆలయంలో ఫిబ్రవరి 4వ తేదీ కోయిల్ ఆళ్వార్ తిరుమంజనం నిర్వహించనున్నారు. బ్రహ్మోత్సవాల ముందు కోయిల్ ఆళ్వార్ తిరుమంజనం నిర్వహించడం ఆనవాయితీ. ఆలయంలో ఫిబ్రవరి 8 నుండి 17వ తేదీ వరకు వార్షిక బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలు జరుగనున్న విషయం విదితమే.
ఈ సందర్భంగా బుధవారం తెల్లవారుజామున సుప్రభాతంతో స్వామివారిని మేల్కొలిపి అభిషేకం, అలంకారము, శుద్ధి నిర్వహిస్తారు. ఉదయం 11.30 నుండి మధ్యాహ్నం 3 గంటల వరకు కోయిల్ ఆళ్వార్ తిరుమంజనం జరుగనుంది. ఈ కారణంగా ఉదయం 8 నుంచి 11 గంటల వరకు, తిరిగి మధ్యాహ్నం 3 గంటల నుంచి రాత్రి 8 గంటల వరకు భక్తులను స్వామివారి దర్శనానికి అనుమతిస్తారు.
శ్రీ కపిలేశ్వరస్వామివారి ఆలయ ప్రాశస్త్యం :
శ్రీకపిలేశ్వరస్వామివారి ఆలయంలోని శివుని విగ్రహాన్ని కపిలమహాముని ప్రతిష్ఠించినందుకు ఈ తీర్థానికి కపిలతీర్థం అని పేరు వచ్చింది. ఈ ఆలయం తిరుమల కొండకు దిగువ భాగాన ఒక గుహను ద్వారంగా చేసుకుని గుహాలయంగా విరాజిల్లుతూ ఉంది. కొండనుంచి జాలువారేనీళ్లు నేరుగా ఈ కపిలతీర్థ పుష్కరిణిలో పడుతుంది. కాబట్టి ‘కపిలతీర్థం’ అని పిలువబడుతుంది. దీనినే ‘ఆళ్వార్ తీర్థం’ అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు. ఈ ఆలయం ముందు ఒక పెద్ద రాతి నంది విగ్రహం శివుడికి ఎదురుగా భక్తులకు దర్శనమిస్తుంది.
ఇక్కడి స్థలపురాణం ప్రకారం, కపిలముని ఇక్కడ తప్పసు చేసినప్పుడు శివ-పార్వతులు అతని తప్పసుకు మెచ్చి ఇక్కడ ప్రత్యక్షమయ్యారట. ఇక్కడ ఉన్న శివలింగం ‘స్వయంభు’ అని చెప్పబడుతున్నది.
కపిలేశ్వరస్వామి ఆలయం దెగ్గరలో నమ్మాళ్వార్ గుడి కూడా ఉంది. కనుక ఈ తీర్థాన్ని ‘ఆళ్వార్ తీర్థం’ అని అంటారు. ఈ ఆలయంలో కపిలేశ్వరస్వామి ఆలయంతోపాటు కామక్షమ్మవారి ఆలయం, వినాయకస్వామి ఆలయం, సుబ్రహ్మణ్యస్వామి ఆలయం, దక్షిణమూర్తిస్వామి ఆలయం, నటరాజస్వామివారి ఆలయం, కోటిలింగేశ్వరస్వామి ఆలయం, అగస్తీశ్వరస్వామి ఆలయం, నవగ్రహాలయాలలో శైవాగమం ప్రకారం పూజలు నిర్వహిస్తుండగా ఆలయప్రాంగణంలోని లక్ష్మీనారాయణస్వామి ఆలయం పాంచరాత్ర ఆగమానుసారం శ్రీవేణుగోపాలస్వామి ఆలయం, అభయహస్త ఆంజనేయస్వామి ఆలయాలలో వైఖానస ఆగమం ప్రకారం పూజలు నిర్వహిస్తున్నారు.
