DEITIES REJOICE “EDURKOLU” AND “PUBANTATA” IN PARINAYOTSAVAM

Tirumala, 5 May 2017: The Universal deities seemed to have completely enjoyed the interesting episode of Edurkolu and Pubantata on the second day of Padmavathi Parinayotsavam in Tirumala on Friday evening which happens to be the most prominent day in the three day annual celestial wedding fete.

Padmavathi Parinayotsavam usually observed starting on Navami day and concluding on Ekadasi. According to legendary, the real wedding ceremony took place on second day on the auspicious Dasami day.

When Lord Malayappa reached the Parinaya Vedika in Narayanagiri Gardens on small Aswa Vahanam, the Goddesses reached him on separate palanquins dressed in dazzling jewels and silk clothes.

The priests and officials divided into two groups with one supporting the bridegroom and another taking the side of brides on opposite sides and welcomed each other.

The devotees converged in large numbers to witness this interesting episodes of South Indian marriage known as “Edurkolu”.

Later both the sides threw floral balls at one another thrice which mused the devotees. Later the goddesses were seated on either sides of Lord on finely decked floral swing and Unjal Seva performed. During the Seva, Rig, Yajur, Sama and Adharwana Vedas were recited rhythmically by Vedic pundits. Later followed the devotional songs rendered melodiously by artists of Annamacharya Project and the Harikatha Parayana.

TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao, temple Dyeo Sri Kodandarama Rao, SE II Sri Ramachandra Reddy and other officers were also present.
