ABHISHEKA SEVA-A VISUAL TREAT IN SRI KRT

THE SACRED BATH IS BEING RENDERED TO THE MAIN DEITIES ON EVERY SATURDAY

Tirupati, 4 December 2015: The ancient temple of Lord Sri Kodandarama Swamy is one of the local temples situated in heart of Tirupati city and one of the important sub-shrines under the control of TTD.

The uniqueness of this temple is that the Idols of Lord Sri Kodandarama Swamy varu, Goddess Sita Ammavaru and Sri Lakshmana Swamy varu were installed during the Tretayuga by Jambavantha and the temple was later constructed during the regime of Chola Emperor in 10th century. Kainkaryams are being rendered in this temple are being performed as per Vaikhanasa Agama and the Saturday abhishekam Seva to the six feet presiding deities is an eye catching fete and provides visual treat to devotees.

ABHISHEKAM : In the month of December Abhishekam is being performed to the deities on 5, 12, 19 and 26 of December. The price of the ticket per person is Rs.20. The Abhishekam commences by 8am and lasts for about an hour. The devotees who wish to take part in this ritual have to attend in traditional dress which includes Pancha and Upper Kandua while for women sarees.

ASTOTTARA SATA KALASABHISHEKAM ON DEC 25: In view of Pournami on December 25, Astottara Sata Kalasabhishekam will be performed to processional deities in the morning at 9am to 10:30am and the price of ticket per person is Rs.50. This is followed by Tiruchi utsavam on the same day evening in Ramachandra Pushkarini by 5:30pm.

KALYANAM ON PUNARVASU STAR: Being the birth star of Lord Sri Kodanda Rama, the celestial Kalyanam to deities is observed every month on the advent of Punarvasu star. This month the Kalyanam will be performed on December 27 and the price of the ticket is Rs.500 on which two persons will be allowed. On the same day evening there will be unjal Seva in unjal Mandapam located at Ramachandra Pushkarini by 6pm.
