“MAKE USE OF TECHNOLOGY TO POPULARISE HARIKATHA”-TTD EO

Tirupati, 12 September 2015: Srimad Ajjada Adibhatla Narayana Das known as the versatile genius of Andhra Pradesh was a poet, musician, dancer, linguist and philosopher and stood as pride of Telugus with his multifaceted personality, said TTD Trust Board Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy.

Addressing the meeting on the occasion of 151st Jayanthi Celebrations o the versatile personality in Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati on Saturday evening the TTD board chief said Narayana Das was the creator of the unique art form, Harikatha. He said, Dasu had mastery over eight languages including Sanskrit, Telugu, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Persian, Arabic and English. “Harikatha is an amalgamation of Sangeetha-Nritya-Sahityam. I assure that TTD will take forward this legacy and preserve the art form for future generations”, he added.

Earlier in his speech TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao said, the Harikatha Bhagavatars of today should imbibe the qualities of Sri Adibhatla and revive the past glory of age old medium of propagation. “Make use of available resources and technology today and modify this traditional art to suit the contemporary context and popularise it. We can make use of our TTD SVBC, magazine, website to popularise this great art form. He called upon the authorities of SV College of Music and Dance to take up Hindu Dharma Prachara in a wide way by making the best use of Harikatha. “In those days, Adibhatla pioneered enlightening the society with his expertise in Harikatha. And you should also teach the techniques to the present day students and bring back the glory of this artwork”, he observed.

Later the delegates released the Harikatha book penned by Sri Adibhatla Narayan Dasu on this memorable occasion. Some renowned Harikatha Bhagavatars were also felicitated. Later Smt Saileswari presented her research paper on Sri Ajjada Adibhatla Narayana Das.

The meeting was presided over by Tirupati Jeo Sri P Bhaskar, while TTD Board member Dr Hariprasad, Former HDPP Secretary Dr HS Brahmananda, Special Officer Smt Gautami, Principal of SV College of Music and Dance Smt YVS Padmvathi were also present.
