ANKURARPANAM PERFORMED FOR ANNUAL BRAHMOTSAVAMS IN SRI GOVINDARAJA SWAMY TEMPLE

TIRUPATI, 24 May 2015: Ankurarpanam’ ritual has been performed with religious fervour in Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati on Sunday evening.

As a prelude to the annual salakatla brahmotsavams, Ankurarpanam or the “sacred seed sowing ritual” is performed at 6.30pm in Tirupati wherein nine types of holy seeds in earthen containers have been sowed in holy soil (Mrisangrahana). This ritual signifies the beginning of festival in the temple. This is followed by recital of vedic hymns.

Earlier the commander-in-chief of Lord Govindaraja Swamy, Sri Vishwaksena Swamy has been taken around the four mada streets in a grand procession. The celestial warrior has invited all the three crore deities to take part in the nine-day mega religious event of his Supremo Master.

H.H.Pedda Jeeyar & Chinna Jeeyar Swamy of Tirumala Mutt, Temple DyEO Sri Chandrasekhar Pillai, AEO Sri Prasada Murthy Raju and others were present.
