ANKURARPANAM PERFORMED FOR MAIDEN BRAHMOTSAVAM IN NEW DELHI VENKATESWARA TEMPLE

New Delhi, 17 May 2014:  Ankurarpanam’ ritual has been performed with religious fervour in the capital of India on Saturday evening.

As a prelude to the annual brahmotsavams,Ankurarpanam or the “sacred seed sowing ritual” is performe wherein nine types of holy seeds in earthen containers have been sowed in holy soil (Mrisangrahana). This ritual signifies the beginning of festival in the temple. This is followed by recital of vedic hymns.

Earlier the commander-in-chief of Lord Venkateswara, Sri Vishwaksena Swamy has been taken around the streets in a grand procession. The celestial warrior has invited all the three crore deities to take part in the nine-day mega religious event of his Supremo Master.
