ANNAMAYYA TAUGHT SHARANAGATI TO DEVOTEES- DR VEDANTHAM RAJAGOPAL CHAKRAVATHI

VALEDICTORY OF SAHITHI CONVENTION FOR 608TH JAYANATHI OF SAINT THALLAPAKA ANNAMAIAH

Tirupati, 16 May 2017: Eminent spiritualist, Dr Vedantham Rajagopal Chakravarti said today that Saint poet Annamaiah had incultated the Sharanagati concept as the only path to Mukti among devotees of Lord Venkateswara.

Participating in the Literary convention got up as part of the Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya 608th Jayanti celebrations at Annamacharya Kalamandir here, he said that Annamacharya had spread the Asthaksari mantra expounded by Vaishnavacharya Sri Bhagavat Ramanuja through his keertans.

The concept of Ahimsa, righteousness, Bhakti, Sharanagati and Nama Sankeertanams were the major tenents of the Srivaishnava Dharma of the Ashaksari mantra, he said adding that Annamaiah sankeertans propagaged Nama sankeertans and distancing from violence as the main sutra for attaining mukti.

Speaking on the ocassion Dr Muvva Vrushadripati highlighted on various tenents of Bhakti in Annamaiah sankeertans. which was a combination of Bhakti, Jnana and Yoga. The Sankeertans contained Vatsalya bhakti, Madhura Bhakti, Yoga Bhakti, Matru Bhakti, Srungara Bhati.

Later Dr Madugula Ravi Krishna spoke on theme of “Annamaiah Sankeertans – Sugriva Narasimha Vaibhavam”and said that the 1400 AD temple of Sri Sugriva Narasimha existed at Hampi as indicated in Annamaiah’s six sankeertans mirroring the social and bhakti cult of the period,

In the evening Smt Chaganti Sandhya Sundar Troupe of Visakhapatnam performed Bhakti Sangeet aspart of the cultural event of the convention.

The troupe of Sri K Nihal of Hyderabad also rendered bhakti sangeet at the Mahati auditorium. The TTD Projects DyEO Smt Sharada and other officials and large number of devotees participated in the event.
