ANNUAL PAVITHROTSAVAM COMMENCES AT SRI PAT

Tirupati, 15 September 2016: The Pavitra samarpana was performed at the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, Tiruchanoor with religious fervor and devotion flavor as part of the holiest of the Vaishnavite festivals on second day.

Speaking on the occasion TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao said Pavitrotsavam was performed annually as per Agama traditions to ward off negative impact of any lapses occurred in temple rituals by priests or devotees. Pavitra samarpana was performed in right vedic traditions by Priests.

DyEO of local temples Sri Chinnamgari Ramana said tomorrow, Friday, the last day of Pavitrotsavam, snapana thirumanjanam will be conducted in the morning and later in the evening the Utsava idols of Sri Krishna, Sri Padmavathi and Sri Sundararaja swami were taken in a procession on the mada streets of PAT.

Earlier as part of the holy event Suprabatham and Sahasra archana was performed for the Goddess Padmavathi in the morning and later the utsava idols were taken to Yaga shala where Prabodhi, Homa and pavitra samarpana were performed. In the evening aradhana, homa and nivedana will be conducted in the Yaga shala.

Interested devotees were also allowed to participate in the event with a token ticket of Rs.750 (for each devotee for three days) and were offered two laddus and two vadas as prasadam.

Among others AEO Sri Radhakrishna, Temple priests, officials and devotees participated in the event.
