APPALAYAGUNTA ANNUAL TEMPLE FETE FROM JUNE 8

TIRUPATI, MAY 24: The annual brahmtosavams of Lord Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy in Appalayagunta will commence on June 8 and conclude on June 16 with Ankurarpanam on June 7.

This famous sub-shrine of TTD is the abode of Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy and is located at a distance of 16KM from the temple city of Tirupati. The presiding deity of Lord Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy will be seen in a unique posture of Abhaya Hastha Pose(Blessing Hand).

According to temple legend, the Lord blessed Sri Siddeswara Yogi and Sages in the holy place after his marriage with Goddess Sri Padmavathi in this area.  And settled in this blessing hand pose over the request of the sages.

The other shrines in the main temple are  Sri Andal Temple, Sri Padmavathi Ammavari(Amman) Temple and Sri Prasanna Anjaneya Swamy Temple located on the opposite side of the main temple. The temple was constructed by the rulers of Karvetinagaram. This temple was taken over by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) in the year 1988 and since then the annual religious events like brahmotsavams, ugadi, vaikuntha ekadasi, rathasapthami, deepavali etc. are being observed with religious fervour.

Meanwhile the vahana sevas during the nine-day brahmotsavams takes place every day between 8am to 9am and again 8pm to 9pm. Every day there will be special cultural devotional programmes by HDPP and Dasa Sahitya Project wings of TTD.

On June 11, there is Kalyanotsavam between 5pm to 7.30pm. Grihastas couple will be allowed to take part in this celestial wedding on payment of Rs.500 per ticket.
