BEDI ANJANEYA SWAMY TEMPLE-THE HANDCUFFED HANUMAN:

Tirumala, 15 October 2015: Daily thousands of devotes chose to trek 11 kms through the foot hill route-“Sopana Margam with utmost devotion as they strongly believe that it is auspicious to walk through these sacred seven hills Seshadri, Neeladri, Garudadri, Anjanadri, Vrishabhadri, Vrishadri and Narayanadri before having the darshan of Lord Sri Venkateswara.

Just about a few meters away, right in front of the Srivari Temple, is located the famous temple of Bedi Anjaneya – Lord Hanuman Handcuffed posture which is unique to this temple alone. Legend says that Goddess Anjanadevi, Mother of Anjaneya had ordered her beloved son to stay in front of the Srivari Temple till she returned in a bid to prevent Bala Hanuman who he was wandering in the forests in search of his vehicle, a camel. She handcuffed him and did not return and settled for penance on a rocky mountain which later attained the name “Anjanadri”.

Watching His beloved disciple standing all alone in front of His Temple, Lord Sri Venkateswara is said to have instructed the temple priests to offer timely food to Bala Hanuman each and every day and take good care of Him until His mother returns. It is for this reason that every time, Neivedyam is offered to Lord Sri Bhu Varahaswamy and Lord Sri Venkateswara every day, the same Naivedyam is brought to this temple and offered to Lord Hanuman.

In this way, Lord Hanuman is known for “Sharanagata Prapatti”- and continued to be the role model to the devotees even today in “Dasa Bhakti”.
