BHAAG SAVARI UTSAVAM OBSERVED WITH RELIGIOUS POMP

Tirumala, 12 october, 2016: The annual Bhaag Savari Utsavam, a unique religious fete which is usually observed on the immediate day after the completion of annual brahmostavams of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala, was observed with religious ecstasy on Monday evening.

To testify the devotion of Sri Anantalwar, the Lord Himself dons as a human and comes to Anantalwar Gardens along with His consort Sridevi. When both of them were plucking the flowers, Anantalwar caught hold of Goddess and tied her to the Aswatha tree and when he tried to catch the Lord, he escapes in the reverse direction(opposite way) and disappears inside the sanctum.

Anantalwar realizes his mistake, immediately unties the Goddess and makes her sit in a basket of flowers and carries her over his head and unites Her with Lord. Impressed with this devotion of Anantalwar, when Lord fulfills the wish of his great bhakta Anantalwar to enter his gardens on the immediate after completion of annual brahmotsavams. This tradition is being observed by TTD with utmost devotion and this unique festival is called “Bhaag Savari”. Temple officials, successors of Anantalwar took part in this fete.

DyEO Sri Chandra Sekhar Pillai, Parpathyedar Sri Doraswamy Naik and others took part.
