TIRUMALA, 22 AUGUST 2021: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has come out with an eco-friendly Bio-degradable Laddu Bags and an exclusive sales counter has been inaugurated jointly by DRDO Chairman Sri Satish Reddy along with the TTD EO Dr KS Jawahar Reddy and Additional EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy at Tirumala on Sunday.
Later talking to media persons outside the Laddu Complex where the new counter was launched, the DRDO Chairman Sri G Satish Reddy said our Advance Systems Laboratory in Hyderabad has been doing lot of research and inventing ways to find the best environmental friendly replacement for the hazardous plastic. To minimise single-use plastic, we have come out with these eco-friendly bags made of starch of corn which degrades naturally within 90 days and is also not harmful even if the cattle consumes them. After a detailed research and rigorous testing of the formula, we have come out with these bags for Tirumala”, he maintained.
He also said, “Usually the conventional polyethene bags made from petrochemicals are toxic to the environment and takes nearly 200 years to degrade. In contrast, these bags would be offered as a ‘sustainable, cost-effective and ocean-safe alternative’ to such plastic products”, he added.
Later the TTD EO said, the launch of Bio-degradable bags by DRDO is a remarkable initiative and an eco-friendly measure. “Products like these are essential for the survival of mankind. After observing the response from the pilgrims for a few days, we are planning to commence its sales in a full-fledged manner”, he added.
CVSO Sri Gopinath Jatti, Director DRDO, Sri Ram Manohar Babu, Chief Scientist Dr Veera Brahmam were also present.

తిరుమల 22 ఆగస్టు 2021: పర్యావరణ పరిరక్షణ, ప్రాణకోటి మనుగడకు హాని కలిగించని విధంగా డిఆర్ డిఓ తయారు చేసిన బయో డిగ్రేడబుల్ కవర్ల విక్రయ కేంద్రాన్ని ఆదివారం తిరుమల లడ్డూ కౌంటర్ల వద్ద ప్రారంభించారు. డి ఆర్ డి ఓ చైర్మన్ శ్రీ సతీష్ రెడ్డి, టీటీడీ ఈవో డాక్టర్ కెఎస్ జవహర్ రెడ్డి, అదనపు ఈవో శ్రీ ధర్మారెడ్డి ఈ కౌంటర్ ను ప్రారంభించారు.
ఈ సందర్భంగా డి ఆర్ డిఓ చైర్మన్ శ్రీ సతీష్ రెడ్డి మీడియాతో మాట్లాడారు. హైదరాబాద్ లోని క్షిపణి ప్రయోగ కేంద్రంలోని అడ్వాన్స్ సిస్టమ్స్ లేబొరేటరీ అనేక రకాల ప్రయోగాలు చేస్తుందన్నారు. ఇందులో భాగంగా పర్యావరణానికి తీవ్ర విఘాతం, పశువులకు ప్రాణ హాని కలిగిస్తున్న ప్లాస్టిక్ కవర్ల కు ప్రత్యామ్నాయంగా బయో డిగ్రేడబుల్ కవర్ల తయారీపై పరిశోధనలు చేసిందన్నారు.మొక్కజొన్న వ్యర్థాలతో సంచులు తయారుచేసి, వీటి వల్ల పర్యావరణానికి ఎలాంటి మేలు కలుగుతుందని పరిశోధనలు చేసిందన్నారు. ప్లాస్టిక్ కవర్లకు ఇది పూర్తి స్థాయి ప్రత్యామ్నాయం అని నిరూపణ అయ్యాక వీటి తయారీకి ఆమోదం తెలిపిందన్నారు. ఈ కవర్లను పశువులు తిన్నా ఎలాంటి ఆరోగ్య సమస్యలు తలెత్తవన్నారు. ఇవి 90 రోజుల్లోనే పూర్తిగా భూమిలో కలసి పోతాయని ఆయన చెప్పారు. ఇవి పాలిథిన్ కవర్లకు ప్రత్యామ్నాయంగా ప్రజల్లోకి తీసుకుపోవాల్సిన అవసరం ఉందని చెప్పారు.
టీటీడీ ఈవో డాక్టర్ కెఎస్ జవహర్ రెడ్డి మాట్లాడుతూ, తిరుమలలో పర్యావరణ పరిరక్షణకు టీటీడీ ఇప్పటికే అనేక చర్యలు తీసుకుందన్నారు. ప్రసాదాల పంపిణీ కోసం బట్ట, జ్యుట్ బ్యాగులు విక్రయిస్తున్నట్లు చెప్పారు. గ్రీన్ మంత్ర సంస్థ పర్యావరణ హిత కవర్లు విక్రయిస్తోందని తెలిపారు.
డి ఆర్ డిఓ తయారు చేసిన పర్యావరణ హిత సంచుల విక్రయాలు తిరుమలలో ప్రారంభించడం సంతోషకరమన్నారు. భక్తుల నుంచి పూర్తిస్థాయిలో సంతృప్తి లభించిన వెంటనే ఈ కవర్లు మరింతగా అందుబాటులోకి తెస్తామని చెప్పారు.
