BRAHMOTSAVAMS COMES TO A GRAND END WITH DHWAJAVAROHANAM
Tirumala, 11 October, 16: The nine-day celestial annual fete came to a ceremonial end with Dhwajavarohanam – the Garuda flag descending festival that took place on Tuesday evening in Tirumala temple.
The Garuda Flag which was hoisted on temple pillar as a mark of commencement of annual Brahmotsavams, was now lowered amidst he chanting of Veda mantras by archakas in a devotional atmosphere.
After descending the holy flag, the festive idols were given Naivedyam, aarti and other divine services. The glory of the Brahmotsavams has been described in “Srinivasa Vilasa Sevadhi” penned by Sresrhaluri Venkataraya in 17century AD from Dhwajarohanam to Dhwajavarohanam in a splendid manner.
