Tirumala, October 8:  Ever heard of the Chinese fox faced fruity flower, a natural decorative and social forestry piece.

The Brahmotsavam-2013 showcases this Solanum mammosum as known in botanical term and in China as ‘five fingered eggplant’ but in Japan it is known as Fox Face fruit.

The bunches of these yellow color and fox faced fruits are decorated at the balipeetham(opposite to Dwajasthambam) in the Srivari Temple at Tirumala for the first time. Brahmotsavam is one of the holy and grand celebrations at the temple of Lord Venkateswara at the hill shrine of Tirumala.

To mark the occasion, a nine day bonanza of rituals, public frenzy and religious fervor, TTD made elaborate arrangements and flower decoration is one of the prominent and most appreciated features of the Festival arrangements.

Presence of a flower and its fragrance kept away petty wrangles and also smoothed tempers, says the Srinivasulu, the Garden superintendent of TTD and in charge of the decorations adding that nearly 15 tonnes of flowers from seven Asian countries and also other major flower markets of world were imported for the Brahmotsavam event.

Besides the unique flower decorations at the Flower show at Karlayana vedika, the garden department has taken up decorations of Srivari temple, Several other sub temples and the social median across Tirumala to give the devotees a colorful and flavor ambiance
