DEVOTEES TAKE PLEASURE OF “COMMUNITY DINING” DURING KARTHIKA VANABHOJANAM

Tirumala, 9 November,2014: With the participation of tens of thousands of devotees in the green lawns of Paruveta Mandapam located amidst thick forests of Tirumala, the Karthika Vanabhojanam organised by TTD assumed a great spiritual importance on Sunday.

The day began with the processional deity of Lord Malayappa mounted atop the Golden Gaja vahanam was carried out in a grand procession to the venue of Paruveta Mandapam situated about two kilometres from the hill temple while the idols of his two divine consorts Sri devi and Bhoo devi were carried on a tastefully decorated ivory palanquin as scores of bhajan troupes preceded the procession.

Later the temple priests ceremoniously carried out Snapana Thirumanjanam to the deities who were seated on a high golden altar and were given a holy bath with flavoured water and then with milk, curd, honey, coconut water, turmeric and finally were applied sandalwood paste before giving the final bath.
After this ceremony, community meals were organised which was attended by scores of devotees.

TTD has also organised Annamacharya Sankeertans and Harikatha Parayana to match the occasion.

TTD EO Sri MG Gopal, temple Dy EO Sri C Ramana, Annaprasadam Dy EO Sri Venugopal, Additional CVSO Sri Sivakumar Reddy, Health Officer Sri Venkatramana were also present.
