ESSAY CONTESTS ON TARIGONDA VENGAMAMBA LIFE STORY_ TTD SPL OFFICER SRI MUKTHESWARA RAO

Tirupati, 11 August 2016: The 199th Vardhanti of Saint poetess Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba kicked off at Tirupati today with religious and spiritual flavor.

Speaking on the ocassion TTD OSD Sri Mukteswar Rao said that an essay competition will soon be conducted for students of the Sri Venkateswara Oriental College on the life story of saint poetess Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba.

Participating in the literary conference conducted on highlights of Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba as part of celebrations Sri Mukteswar Rao said a complete set of all publications Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba will be presented to the SV Oriental College He urged the students of the college to prepare well for the essay competition and the merited bright students will be presented cash awards.

Acharya JK Krishnamurthy who presided over the literary conference who spoke on the concept of Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba -Dwipada Bhagavatam- an Critical analysis’ said Vengamamba writings were a convergence of archaic and simple language for common mans benefit

He said while Annamaiah had worshipped the Lord Venkateswara with Keertans Vengamamba had scripted Lords glory and Bhakti in Prose and poetry and Yakshaganas. He also narrated critical aspects of the Dipada Bhagavatam. While the Annamayya’s Venkatachalam Mahatmam written in Sanskrit is not available for public consumption the Venkatachalam Mahatmam written in Telugu by Vengamamba was popular. The Lali pata of Annammaiah and Muthyala harati of Vengamamba were still practiced in Srivari Temple.

Acharya P Kusuma Kumari of Tirupati spoke on Special role of Vengamamba in Telugu Literature ” and Smt I Radhika Krishna of Hyderabad highlighted on the issue of poetry of Vengamamba and comparison with other prose writers of the period. Dr Sangeetam Keshavulu of Chandragiri spoke on ” Tallapaka Annamaiah’s influence on Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba ‘.

As part of the Vengamamba Vardhanti festival on Thursday evening Students of SV Music College led by the lecturer Dr K Vandana presented Vengamamba and Sri Krishna Manjari keertans at the Annamaiah Kala mandir .

Among others Sri Surendra, principal of Sv Oriental college ,students and lecturers participated in the event.
