FIVE DAY FLOAT FESTIVAL CONCLUDES ON A COLOURFUL NOTE IN TIRUMALA

TIRUMALA, 5 March 2015: The five-day annual float festival of Lord Venkateswara concluded on a colourful note in Tirumala in the bright moon light on Thursday.

Being one of the most important festivals that are being observed every year in the hill shrine of Tirumala, Teppotsavams are unique in nature since the processional deities will take a pleasure ride in the serene waters of Swamy Pushkarini for five days providing a celestial feast to the tens of thousands of eyes.

As a part of this festival, on the first day Lord in the guise of Sri Rama accompanied by Goddess Sita Devi, Laxmana and Anjaneya took celestial ride on the holy waters in flotilla while on the second day He took ride in the guise of Lord Sri Krishna accompanied by His beloved Goddess Rukmini. On the last three days Lord Sri Malayappa Swamy accompanied by His two Consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi took pleasure ride in the sacred waters. While on the first three days, the deities blessed the devotees by taking three rounds on “Teppa”(boat)
while on the fourth day they mused the pilgrims in five rounds.

On final day, the Lord Malayappa appeared much more special in the fullmoon light and enchanted the pilgrims who converged in pushkarini to catch a glimpse of the mightiness of Lord on the finely decorated flotilla.

TTD has cancelled Vasanthotsavam, Sahasra Deepalankara Seva owing to this festival and also cancelled monthly Pournami Garuda Seva on Sunday following the Theppotsavams.
