SWACHH BHARAT MISSION COMMENCED ON MAHATMA’S BIRTH ANNIVERSARY
Tirupati, 2 October 2016: The principles of Satya and Ahimsa followed by Mahatma Gandhiji is famous even today across the world and Swachh Bharat Mission mulled by the Government of India is a tribute on his anniversary to make India clean and hygienic, said TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao.
The 148 Birth Anniversary of Father of Nation, Sri Mahatma Gandhi took place in the quadrangle of TTD administrative building on Sunday. The TTD EO who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, in his speech said, Satya and Ahimsa are the two tenets, which Mahatma strictly followed through out his life and even achieved independence to the country. “Even today his principles are being followed across the globe.
The GOI has commenced Swachh Bharat Mission in a big way on this auspicious day and vowed to achieve the results of a cleaner and healthier India in two years. Today the temple town of Tirumala has been chosen as one of the prime locations under this prestigious mission”, he added.
He urged the students to follow the principles taught by Mahatma and practice them in their lives to become good citizens of India.
Earlier in his speech, Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar said, the ideologies and teachings of Gandhi has not inspired leaders in the country but across the globe. “His life is a message to humanity. The students should study the biographies of such great personalities and inculcate good habits from their lives”, he said.
Services DyEO Sri L Vijayasaradhi in his speech enlightened the audience and pupils with the snippets from the life of Mahatma. “It is Lord Sri Ramachandra who followed Satya throughout his life in Tretayuga. While Gandhiji set an example of the prime follower of Satya and Ahimsa in Kaliyuga and became Mahatma. Even the auto biography penned by him was titled “SatyaSodhana”-My Experiments with Truth and it is the largest selling book even today which speaks of his greatness”, he added.
Dr T Ravi, PRO of TTD in his message to students urged them to follow the Gandhian path and love everyone. “Hate the Sin and Love the Sinner” is the message of Mahatma which should be adopted by all of us”, he maintained.
