GANGA PUJA PERFORMED WITH RELIGIOUS FERVOUR

PLANS ON FOR TWO MORE MINI DAMS IN TIRUMALA-TTD EO

TIRUMALA, DECEMBER 14: TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao advocated that the temple management is contemplating to construct two more mini dams to store the rain water which is going waste without saving provision.

The EO who took part in the Ganga Puja organised under the aegis of Water Works department of TTD in Tirumala at Papavinasanam and Gogarbham dams on Monday evening, talking to media persons said, that with the blessings of Lord Venkateswara and Ganga Devi, this year Tirumala received good rains and all the dams are full to their capacity. In a thanksgiving gesture today we have performed Ganga Puja here”, he said.

LONG TERM PLANS TO UTILISE EVERY DROP OF WATER: “These water would suffice the needs for the next 388 days. But there is a need to save and utilise every drop of water to the best possible extent and we are chalking out long term plans for the same”, he maintained.

TREATMENT OF WASTE WATER TO MEET GARDEN AND FOREST PLANTATION NEEDS:

The EO said the waste water can be treated and can be utilised for gardens and forests. “Our requirement is 13MLD and about 7MLD is required for the plantation. If we can use treated water for plantation then we can better use for drinking purpose without any wastage”, he observed.

OVER AN YEAR: Meanwhile SE II Sri Ramachandra Reddy said, the water will meet the requirements for next two years. Now there is no need for us to depend on Kandaleru or any other water sources. But with the instructions of EO we are chalking out plans to construct check dams and other storage structures to save rain water”, he added.

TIRUMALA RECEIVED ABUNDANT RAIN FALL FOR 13 TIMES IN 18 YEARS:

On the other hand Executive Engineer Water Works Sri Narasimha Murthy said, since 1986, Tirumala has received rainfall over the normal level for 13 times where all the dams have been filled. Now there is no problem for drinking water and other purpose in guest houses, mutts, shopping complex etc. in Tirumala”, he added.

AYUDHA PUJA PERFORMED AT FILTER HOUSE:

The water works department has observed Ayudha Puja in a big way in Filter House at Tirumala on Monday evening.
