GARUDA FLAG FLIES HIGH ON TEMPLE MAST MARKING COMMENCEMENT OF SRI GT FETE

DHWAJAROHANAM PERFORMED IN THE AUSPICIOUS KARKATAKA LAGNAM

TIRUPATI, 31 May 2017: The Navahnika Brahmotsavams of Lord Sri Govindaraja Swamy commenced on a ceremonial note in Tirupati on Wednesday with the traditional ritual Dhwajarohanam.

The Garuda Flag was hoisted over the temple pillar amidst chanting of vedic hymns by temple priests in the Karkata Lagnam between 9am and 10am. The Nadaswaram and Saxaphone wind instrument support to the entire ceremony enhanced the devotional fervour among the devotees.

Speaking to media persons after the Dhwajarohanam ceremony, TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal said, akin to Tirumala temple, Sri Govinda Raja Swamy temple happens to be one the most important and ancient temples located in the heart of the temple city of Tirupati. The annual fete which commenced today will conclude on June 8 with Chakrasnanam. The other important days includes Garuda Seva on June 4, Rathotsavam on June 7 and Dhwajavarohanam on June 8. I invite the devotees to take part in this festival and get the blessings of Lord”, he maintained.

Tirupati JEO Sri P Bhaskar speaking on this occasion said, “Renowned Sri Vaishnava Saint Ramanujacharya consecrated this temple in 1130 AD. The daily rituals in this temple are performed according to “Vaikhanasa Agama”. Elaborate security arrangements, floral erections and electrical illuminations have been set up for the big fete”, he added.

Temple DyEO Smt Varalakshmi, ACVSO Sri Siva Kumar Reddy and other officers were also present.
