“GNANAMURTHI” TAKES RIDE ON PALLYANKIKA
Tirupati, 16 February 2015: The processional deity of Lord Sri Soma Skanda Murthy of Sri Kapileswara Swamy temple in Tirupati took a present ride on the finely decorated “Tiruchi” on Monday evening as a part of the ongoing brahmotsavams of the temple.
According to Puranas, Lord Sri Maha Vishnu is considered as “Bhoga Murthy” (Lord of Propserity) while Lord Shiva as “Gnana Murthy” (Lord of Wisdom). Tiruchi otherwise called “Pallaki Utsavam” or “Pallyankika Utsavam” was a traditional and ancient ceremony usually observed since ages in India by rulers. Since Lord Shiva is considered to be the Gnana Murthy, is taken on a celestial ride on the Palanquin on Monday evening to shower blessings to His devotees in the form of wisdom and pure knowledge.
