TIRUCHANOOR FLOODED BY PILGRIM DEVOTEES ON PANCHAMI

NAVAHNIKA BRAHMOTSAVAMS CONCLUDES WITH DHWAJAVAROHANAM

TIRUCHANOOR, 16 December 2015: It appeared as if the temple town of Tiruchanoor was flooded on Wednesday, but with “Pilgrims” on the auspicious occasion of Panchami Teertham.

SEA OF HUMANITY WITNESSED:

The holy Padmasarovaram-the temple tank in the abode of Goddess Padmavati, turned into a sea of humanity with tens of thousands of pilgrims hailing from across the country participating in Panchami Theertham, the most important ritual of the annual Kartheeka Brahmotsavams with which the annual fete concludes.

GODDESS EMERGED ON THIS AUSPICIOUS DAY:

Panchami Theertham is a celebration of the manifestation of Sri Padmavati Devi in a Golden Lotus in Padma Sarovaram on Sukla Panchami of Kartheeka month. Since she emerged from the divine golden lotus at the centre of the pushkarini, she is called Padmavathi.

SARE FROM TIRUMALA:

The rituals commenced with the grand procession of temple elephant during the wee hours from Tirumala to Tiruchanoor which carried the “Sare”(gift from Lord to his beloved consort comprising turmeric, kumkum, tulsi, Pattu sarees, etc.) for this ceremonious occasion.

SNAPANAM PERFORMED WITH RELIGIOUS FERVOUR:

After rendering special pujas the temple priests performed Snapana Tirumanjanam(celestial bath with milk, honey, turmeric, coconut water and turmeric) to Chakrattalwar and processional deity of Goddess Padmavathi in the specially decorated mandapam in the temple tank.

GARLANDS WITH ALJEERA, CARDAMOM ATTRACTS DEVOTES:

While performing puja as per Pancharatra Agama, the priests adorned the deities with specially made Cardamom, , dried grapes, twigs, Vattiveru and Kuruveru (a type river grass), Beetle nut leaves, Apricot, Aljeera, garlands which fascinated the devotees.

GODDESS DELIGHTS AS GODA DEVI:

As the auspicious Dhanurmasa commences on the late hours of Wednesday, Goddess Padmavathi Devi donned as Godai wearing special decorative jewel made of parrots which is symbolic for Andal Sri Godai. Later she was decked with couple of special jewels brought from Tirumala as Her Birth Day gift from Her beloved Srivaru. The jewels included Godai Kireetam and 108 Lakshmi Kasula Mala.

AVABHRIDAM PERFORMED TO CHAKRATTALWAR:

After the end of the hour-long ritual, Sudarshana Chakram was taken into Padma Pushkarini for a holy dip at around 11.55am. Avabhrida Snanam was performed amidst religious fervour.
