GOKULASTAMI CELEBRATIONS IN TIRUPATI AND TIRUMALA

Tirumala, 11 Aug, 2014: In connection with the festival of Janmasthami on August 18, the temple administration of TTDs is gearing up to celebrate this important festival of Hindus with religious fervour in both the pilgrim centres of Tirupati and Tirumala.
The day starts with a series of devotional programmes including rendition of flute, Kolatam dance and bhajans by artistes of Annamaiah and Dasa Sahitya projects which will be later followed by “Gopuja Mahotsavam” in TTD-run Sri Venkateswara Gosamrakshanasala located in Tirupati, while the Gokulastami Asthanam will be observed in the hill shrine of Tirumala on the same day evening inside Bangaru Vakili between 8pm to 10pm.
Meanwhile on August 19, Utlotsavam is observed with high devotional spirit by denizens of Tirumala where the Lord Malayappa Swamy accompanied by Lord Sri Krishna Swamy goes round about the Hill Shrine and take part in “Utlotsavam” arranged at 16 different points on the day. It will be an eye-treat for the pilgrims to watch the youth breaking the mud pots tied atop the wooden logs arranged at different places only for this occasion.
