GOKULASTAMI FERVOUR GRIPS KARVETINAGARAM TEMPLE

Karvetinagaram, 18 August 2014: The festival of Gokulastami has been celebrated with religious ecstacy in the famous TTD sub-shrine of Lord Sri Venugopala Swamy temple at Karvetinagaram about 50km from here in Chittoor district on Monday.

The temple which came under the purview of TTD from endowments department in the year 1989 underwent lot of development in the last 25 years. The five feet long presiding deities of Lord Sri Venugopala Swamy along with Rukmini Devi and Satyabhama on either side standing pretty tall attracts hunderds of pilgrims every day.

On the auspicious day of Gokulastami, Astottara Shata Kalasabhishekam has been performed in the temple to the processional deities from 8am to 11am. Later the villagers performed “Gopuja” to over 200 cattle in the temple premises. The temple Deputy EO Sri Harindranath presented them Uttariyams to all the villagers who took part in the puja. Later annaprasadams were distributed.

Meanwhile the temple witnessed heavy devotee rush owing to the festival. The presiding deities were tastefully decked matching the occasion.

While in the evening unjal seva will be performed to the processional deities.
