“GOLDEN ARMOUR FORTIFYING FETE” CONCLUDES ON A SPIRITUAL NOTE IN SRI TT
Tirumala, 3 June 2015: The three-day annual Jyesthabhishekam concluded on a grand religious note in the temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala on Wednesday.
Snapana Tirumanjanam to the processional deities has been performed in a ceremonious way with milk, curd, honey, turmeric paste and sandal paste before the final bath with “Kalasa Snanam” is rendered to the deities.
Later in the evening the deities were adorned with “Golden Armour”. This armour will be removed only for the Jyesthabhishekam which falls next year in the holy month of Jyestha.
“Abhidhyeyakam” means protective shield or armour (that which cannot be destructed). To fight against the evil, the Lord emerged with this protective armour in this Kaliyuga. Since the special abhishekam (celestial bath) is conducted to this special “Armour of God” this festival is also called Abhidhyeyaka Abhishekam.
As this festival takes place in the month of Jyestha,(usually falls in June or July)it is also known as “Jyesthabhishekam”.
TTD Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy, Tirumala, JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, Temple DyEO Sri Chinnamagari Ramana, Board Member Sri AV Ramana, Peishkar Sri R Selvam other officials were also present.
