HAMSA VAHANAM-CLEAR INDICATION OF PARAMAHAMSA TATVA

Tirumala, 4 October 2016: In the guise of Saraswathi Devi-the Goddess of Wisdom, the Lord Malayappa Swamy takes a delightful ride on the golden Hamsa Vahanam-the swan vehicle holding Veena in one hand on the second day evening.

IMPORTANCE:

The goddess Saraswati is often depicted as a beautiful woman dressed in pure white, often seated on a white lotus, carried by a divine white swan which symbolizes light, knowledge and truth.

VEDAS AS SWAN

In our ancient texts it is clearly mentioned that the Parabrahman gave vedas to Lord Brahma the creator Himself, in the form of a Swan. This implies the importance of Swan. It has a born skill of distinguishing milk from water which is nothing but the symbolic ability to identify good from bad.

EXPERIENCING THE HIGHEST REALITY

Swan represents not only knowledge but also they experience the highest reality. By taking ride on this vehicle, the Lord shows the importance of Sattwa Guna or purity and the discrimination for true knowledge, insight and wisdom which is essential for humanity.
