KALYANA VENKATESWARA GLITTERS ON BRIGHT SURYAPRABHA VAHANAM
Srinivasa Mangapuram, 16 February 2015: Lord Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy, in the guise of Lord Surya Narayana Murthy took celestial ride on the dazzling Surya Prabha Vahanam on Monday, on the seventh day of ongoing annual brahmotsavams at Srinivasa Mangapuram.
In Hindu mythology, The sun-god is believed to be Surya Narayana, or Sri Maha Vishnu, the soul of all the worlds, who is situated in outer space between the upper and lower portions of the universe.
The chariot of the sun-god (Surya), “Om Bhurbhuvasvaha” travels at a speed of 3,400,800 yojanas [27,206,400 miles] in a muhurta. The carriage of the sun-god’s chariot is estimated to be 3,600,000 yojanas [28,800,000 miles] long and one-fourth as wide [900,000 yojanas, or 7,200,000 miles]. The sun-god traverses a distance of 95,100,000 yojanas [760,800,000 miles] at the speed of 2,000 yojanas and two krosas [16,004 miles] in a moment.
Lord Sri Maha Vishnu, the supreme of all deities, took a pleasure ride on the mighty Sun God Himself to show His Supremacy in all elegance and valour as blessed the multitude of devotees who thronged the fete in the guise of “Surya Narayana Murthy”.
