LET US BECOME ROLE MODEL TO THE WORLD WITH “SWATCHA TIRUMALA”-TTD SA CHIEF

Tirumala, 4 November 2014: The Chairman of Specified Authority of TTD, Sri Jagdish Chandra Sharma asserted that Tirumala which happens to be the world’s best Hindu pilgrim Centre, should also become a role model in cleanliness and this could become a reality with the improvised sold waste management programme which would be launched on 14th of November”, he maintained.

Reviewing with Health, Annaprasadam and Facility Management Services departments at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala on Tuesday evening, Sri JC Sharma said, today the garbage dump yards have become a major problem in all the countries across the world and posing a huge threat to the human survival due to lack of space problem. “But we should take up this mission of “Swatcha Tirumala” and should show the world that nothing is impossible”, he added.

He said, two bins, green colour one for bio-degradable and red one for recycling waste should be placed at every corner of mutts, hotels, public places, offices etc. “This should start from our house first. I have already discussed about this programme with TTD Executive Officer Sri MG Gopal. Orientation programmes in the form of publicity material like pamphlets, posters, short films in SVBC etc will be given to pilgrims, general public, TTD Employees, locals, shop-keepers, hoteliers, mutts etc. in Tirumala. We will utilise the services of Srivari Sevakulu, students in Tirumala schools etc. to bring awareness among the pilgrims and general public”, he said.

Later he instructed, Health Officer of TTD to chalk out a plan of action to implement the programme initially in Tirumala on November 14. The Chairman also inspected the cottages to see the process of segregation of waste materials.

Health Officer Dr Venkatramana, Annaprasadam Deputy EO Sri Venugopal, Catering officer Sri Shastry, FMS EE Sri Subramanyam, sanitary inspectors, hoteliers, mutt representative, shop keepers, sulabh manager and others were also present.
