TIRUMALA, APRIL 23: The three-day annual Salakatla Vasanthotsavam which marks the celebration of the arrival of spring season off to a colourful start in Tirumala on Tuesday.

The festival is celebrated on the three days tryodasichaturdasi and pourn ami in the month of Chaitra. As per the temple legend this festival was introduced during the period of Achyutaraya in 1460.

Earlier during the day, the processional deity of Lord Malayappa Swamy along with his two Consorts, Sri Devi and Bhudevi went on a procession along the four mada streets before they were brought to the finely decorated Vasantha Mandapam where Snapana Thirumanjanam (Holy bath) has been performed between 2pm to 4pm.
