LORD MALAYAPPA RIDES ON PUSHPAKA VIMANAM WITH HIS CONSORTS

Tirumala, 19 Oct 2015: Lord Malayappa Swamy, along with his consorts, was taken out in procession on the finely decked Pushpaka Vimanam in the evening of Monday on the sixth day of Navarathri Brahmotsavams between 5pm and 6pm.

This unique plane made of coconut tree leaves, Tenkaya Mattalu and Keethulu exclusively is held as a substitute to Rathotsavam in view of the Adhika Masa Navaratri Brahmotsavams which come once in three years.

“Pushpaka Vimanam is aimed at offering recreation to the deity who has been busy and tired through the last five days with several processions and rituals. The vimanam is made of coconut leaves. It is 20 feet high, 10 feet wide and 10 feet long. “In all, we use 500 kg of flowers of seven to eight varieties, including lilies,” Sri Srinivasulu, Deputy director of TTD gardens and horticulture, said. “Apart from this over 20 florists from Sri Rangam of Tamilnadu worked for three days and three nights to prepare this wonderful Vimanam using 30 Coconut tree leaves, 150 Keethulu (leaf like inner part in coconut tree)”, he added.
