LORD MALYAPPASWAMY RIDE ON TEPPOTSAVAM

Tirumala, 10 March 2017: On the third of five-day annual Teppotsavam, the processional deities of Lord Malayappa along with his two divine consorts were taken around the ‘mada’ streets encircling the hill shrine in a grand procession to Sri Vari Pushkarini (temple tank).

Later, the deities were mounted atop the two-tier ‘flotilla’ and dragged in the tank waters amidst religious ecstasy. The ‘flotilla’ was tastefully decorated with large variety of flowers and colourfully illuminated with different-coloured bulbs. Huge electrical cut-outs depicting the images of various ‘avataras’ of the Lord were also set-up on all the sides of the temple tank.

Thousands of devotees witnessed the colourful festival that lasted for more than an hour.
