LORD PASUPATHI TAKES RIDE ON MAKARA ON THURSDAY

Tirupati, 3 March 2016: The processional deities of Lord Sri Kapileswara Swamy along with Goddess Parvathi were taken around on Makara Vahanam in the sunny morning on Thursday as a part of ongoing annual Brahmotsavams in Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple.

Makara-the crocodile is the favourite vehicle of Goddess Ganga devi, the River Goddess who also happens to be the first spouse of Lord shiva. In Hindu Mythology, Makara has a significant place and is considered as the Guardian of gateways and thresholds, protecting throne rooms as well as entrances to temples as “Makara Toranam”.

Even the Makara ornaments are a popular and croc shaped earrings are popularly called Makarakundalas are the favourite jewels of the Hindu deities. Lord Kapileswara Swamy flanked by His consort kamakshi Devi took celestial ride on this pride Makara Vahanam.

DyEO Sri Balaji, AEO Sri Subramanyam, Temple Inspector Sri Srinivasulu, Exe Engineer Sri Jagadeeswara Reddy and others took part in the event.
