LORD REFRESHES HIMSELF UNDER MULBERRY STICKS CONCEPT PANDALS

Tirumala, 2 April 2015: The three-day Annual Vasanthotsavams off to a colourful start in Tirumala on Thursday in Vasantha Mandapam under the finely decked replica forests conceptualised by garden department of TTD.

According to the temple Legend, the Vasanthotsavam Festival was started during the period of King Achyutaraya in 1460’s.

This annual fete was believed to have introduced by the King to mark the arrival of Spring Season. Lord and his Consorts are given aromatic bath on these three days which is believed to give a soothing relief to the deities from the scorching Sun.

The garden wing under the supervision of is deputy director Sri Srinivasulu has also come out with a novel concept for the first time by erecting “Mulberry Sticks” Pandal under which the Snapana tirumanjanam to the processional deities of Sri malayappa swamy and His consorts was performed amidst chanting of VEDIC hymns between 2pm to 4 pm.

Meanwhile Pune based donor Sri P D Patil has contributed for the aesthetic vasanthotsava Mandapam.

Later speaking to media persons, TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao said, this annual fete will be usually observed on the auspicious days of Trayodasi, Chaturdasi and Pournami in the month of Chaitra (March/April) every year. The concept of forests with all flora and fauna is well designed and gives a thrilling experience as if this religious fete is taking place under natural woods. While due to Chandra Grahanam on April 4, the snapanam will be performed between 5am to 6:30am itself.

Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, DyEO Sri Chinnamgari Ramana, Peishkar Sri R Selvam, Parpathyedar Sri Ajey and devotees took part.
