LORD SRI KODANDA RAMA SWAMY TEMPLE IN TIRUPATI AND SRI PATTABHIRAMALAYAM TEMPLE AT VALMIKIPURAM GEAR UP FOR ANNUAL MEGA FETE-SPECIAL STORY
TIRUPATI, MARCH 18: The temple administration of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTDs) gear up to celebrate yet another mega religious fete, this time related to its shrines of Lord Sri Rama located both in Tirupati and at Valmikipuram.
Usually the annual fetes are observed in connection with the festival of Sri Rama Navami every year. Both the shrines of Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple in Tirupati and Sri Pattabhirama Swamy temple in Valmikipuram are gearing up for the big religious fete.
BRAHMOTSAVAMS IN SRI KODANDA RAMA SWAMY TEMPLE: Being one of the ancient temples located in Tirupati, Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple occupies a unique place and it was built by Cholas in 10th century AD.
According to Varaha Purana, Lord Sri Rama resided here along with Sita Devi and Lakshmana on his return from Lankapuri. The inscriptions records(dated 1430AD) the construction of the temple and installation of the image of Lord Rama was consecrated by Sathakopadasa Narasimharaya Mudaliyar for the merit of the King Achyutaraya of Vijayanagara Dynasty.
The life size deities of Lord Sri Rama, Goddess Sita Devi and Sri Lakshmana in their adorable forms have been blessing the devotees since centuries.
The nine-day annual brahmotsavams happens to be the most important festival that is being observed with religious pomp and gaiety in this famous Lord Sri Rama temple every year by TTD.
This mega religious fete will commence by 28th of March with Dhwajarohanam with Ankurarpana Mahotsavam on March 27. On the first day evening, the Lord will take celestial ride on Pedda Sesha Vahanam, followed by Chinna Sesha Vahanam and Hamsavahanam on 29th of March, Simha Vahanam and Mutyapupandiri on 30th of March, Sarvabhupala Vahanam on March 31 on the auspicious day of Ugadi. On April 1, the Lord will take a pleasure ride on Garuda Vahana, followed by Hanumantha Vahana and Gaja Vahana on April 2, Suryaprabha and Chandraprabha on April 3, Rathotsavam on April 4 and Chakrasnanam and Dhwajavarohanam on April 5 with which the nine day fete concludes.
After enthralling the devotees on different vahana sevas, there will be special Hanumantha Vahana Seva on April 8 in connection with Sri Rama Navami, followed by Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam on April 9, Sri Rama Pattabhisheka Mahotsavam on April 10 in the temple.
Yet another major fete, the annual teppotsavams of Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple which will be from April 12-14 where in Lord Sri Rama along with Goddess Sita Devi accompanied by Lakshmana and Anjaneya Swamy take pleasure ride on beautifully decorated flotilla in the holy waters of Sri Rama Chandra Pushkarini for three days.
ANNUAL BRAHMOTSAVAMS AT VALMIKIPURAM
The famous Temple of “Sri PattabiRamalayam” is located about 100kms from Tirupati. The uniqueness of this age old temple is that it was built by Lord Jambavantha in Treta Yuga as a mark of his respect towards Lord Sri Rama. Another uniqueness of this temple is that here Lord Sri Rama will be seen in the coronation ceremony posture as presiding deity flanked by His beloved Goddess Sita Devi and also by his brothers Laxmana, Bharatha, Shatrughna and Lord Anjaneya. The Lord Sri Rama here is also called “Pratapa Rama”. TTD has adopted this temple in 1997 and has been doing annual brahmotsavams every year for nine days in a big way.
The Annual fete of this temple will commence on April 5 with Dhwajaroahanam and Gaja vahanam on the same day evening, followed by Muthyapu Pandiri and Hanumantha Vahanams on 6th April, Kalpavirksha and Simha on April 7, Sarvabhopala and Sesha Vahanams on April 8, Suryaprabha-Mohini Avataram- Chandra Prabha on April 9, Sitaramakalyanam and Garuda Seva on April 10, Rathotsavam and Dhuli on April 11, Paruveta utsavam and Aswa Vahanam on April 12, Hamsa Vahanam and Dhwajavarohanam on April 13 and concludes with Pushpayaga Mahotsavam on April 14.
Usually Rathotsavam happens to be a big religious affair in this nine-day brahmotsavams as tens of thousands converge to witness the grandeur of Lord on the massive wooden chariot.
Elaborate arrangements are underway by the temple management of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams to celebrate the mega event in a big way in both the ancient temples of Lord Sri Rama located in the pilgrim district of Chittoor.
