LORD SURYA NARAYANA MURTHY TO TAKE CELESTIAL RIDE ON SURYA PRABHA

TIRUMALA, FEB 4, 2014:  In connection with the “Surya Jayanthi Mahotsavam” on February 6, the Lord Malayappa Swamy in the guise of Lord Suryanarayana Murthy will take celestial ride on the finely decked “Surya Prabha” Vahanam.

The festival which is also known as “Ratha Sapthami” is considered to be one of the most important festivals after Brahmotsavams and Vaikuntha Ekadasi. Usually the Lord will take ride on 16 vahanams during annual nine-day brahmotsavams while the Lord blesses the devotees on seven vahanams on a single day starting from early hours to late hours on this auspicious day. This is the reason why Radhasapthami is also called “Mini Brahmotsavam”.
