MAIDEN PUSHPAYAGAM ENTHRALLS DEVOTEES IN SRI KRT

Tirupati, 1 June 2014: The annual Pushpayaga Mahotsavam taken up by TTD for the first time in the ancient temple of Lord Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy at the pilgrim city of Tirupati enthralled the devotees on Sunday.

The floral bath lasted nearly four hours amidst the chanting of vedic verses from scriptures by temple priests. About five tonnes of various variety of flowers were offered on the deities of Lord Sri Rama accompanied by His love Goddess Sita Devi and Lord Lakshmana.

The flowers were later distributed as ‘prasadam’ to the devotees, who thronged the temple to witness the new ‘seva’.

This ritual is usually performed to overcome the sins committed either knowingly or unknowingly by temple priests, officials, staff and devotees during brahmotsavams or nitya kainkaryams.

Temple Deputy EO Sri Harindranath, GM Transport Sri Sesha Reddy and others were also present.
