Tirumala, 26 August 2016: A day after the Gokulasthami in Sravana month as per traditions, the Utlotsavam was celebrated at Tirumala this morning.

Sri Malayappa swamy and Sri Krishna aloft separate Golden palanquins came on, mada streets to witness the Utlotsavam celebrated by dynamic youth. The utsava deities went around 16 locations in Tirumala including Hathiramji Math and Karnataka choultry and witnessed the Utlotsavam performed all around the hill shrine. Earlier the Utsava idols procession were given harati and also bahumanam at the Pedda Jeeyangar and Chinna Jeeyangar maths.

Speaking to media TTD Executive Officer Dr D Sambasiva Rao said that the Gokulashtami festival was celebrated at Tirumala Srivari Temple and also all the sub temples of TTD. The TTD staff Srivari sevaks and also also promoted Go puja all over the state to spread awareness on devotional and socio-economic significance of the holy Indian cow to society, he said.

The Utlotsavam was ceremoniously conducted with drums beatings and cacophony of the youth from afternoon to evening 5 PM. Devotees and also locals participated in the festival and struck at the curd filled vessels held high at different locations in the hill shrine.

In view of the Utlotsavam the TTD had suspended the arjita sevas like Kalyanotsavam, Unjal seva, Arjita Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara seva at Srivari temple.

HH Sri Sri Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, HH Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy of TIrumala Mutt, Temple DyEO Sri Kodanda Rama Rao, Peishkars Sri R Selvam, Sri Ashok, VSO Sri Raveendra Reddy, Parpathyedar Sri Ramachandra and others took part.
