MANAGUDI IS A MASS FESTIVAL THAT BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER-TTD CHAIRMAN

Tirumala, November 01, 2013: TTD Chairman Sri K Bapiraju said that “Managudi” is a unique religious event where in the people come together and celebrate as a mass festival.

Addressing media persons at Asthana Mandapam in Tirumala on Friday he said, TTD along with state endowments department has successfully carried out three phases of Managudi event and getting ready for the fourth which is slated for November 17, on the auspicious occasion of Karthika Pournami day. “This festival will be celebrated across 22thousand temples across the state this time”, he added.

Listing out the week-long special programmes in connection with Managudi he said, the festival spree will commence with Vanabhojanotsavam on November 11 where in the people will have community dining and Laksha Bilwarchana mahotsavam. This will be followed by mass Satyanarayana Swamy vratam on 13th of this month on the occasion of Suddha Ekadasi. This will be observed in dalitwadas at
seven important places in every district.

Tulasi Puja occupies a special place in the holy month of Karthika Month and hence Mangala Tulasi Puja and Kaisika Dwadasi will be performed on November 14. On November 17, the fourth phase of Managudi will be performed with grandeur along with Laksha Deepotsavam since it matches the auspicious day of Karthika Pournami”, he added.

Earlier, the TTD chariman carried the Managudi Kankanam (holy threads) from Bedi Anjaneya Swamy temple to Srivari temple amidst the chanting of holy hymns by temple priests. These kankanams were placed at the holy feet of the presiding deity of Lord Venkateswara for His divine blessings before they were dispatched to the temples across the state where the fourth phase of Managudi will be observed.

Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, his Tirupati counterpart Sri P Bhaskar was also present.
