ONE-DAY WORKSHOP HELD IN DEAF AND DUMB SCHOOL AT WARANGAL

Warangal, 27 May 2015: A one-day work shop was conducted to the faculty, audiologists and Principals working in various deaf and dumb institutions under the aegis of the Education Department of TTD in the TTD-run Deaf and Dumb school at Warangal on Wednesday with an aim to improve the efficacy of teaching skills to deaf and dumb children.

The Workshop dealt in orienting the faculty on the learning skills for hearing Impaired students. The core subjects in the workshop included-

1. Latest education tools/ technologies available in teaching the Deaf students.
2. Speech therapy, it’s optimum utilization with latest aids.
3. Higher educational avenues open to deaf in an integrated approach as per PWD (Persons with Disabilities) Act.
4. Extra curriculum activities especially for Deaf.

The main delegates who were present in the workshop included Devasthanams Educational Officer Sri Vijay Kumar, Deputy EO Education Smt Snehalatha, the chief of Chennai-based Bala Vidyalaya Smt Saraswathi Narayanan, various principals, NGOs of Deaf and dumb institutions were also present.
