“OPERATION SESHACHALAM’’ TURNS OUT TO BE A SUCCESS

TIRUMALA, MARCH 20:  The massive forest fire extinguishing operation taken up by TTD jointly with the help of Forest officials, “Operation Seshachalam” finally carried out successfully on Thursday with the forest fire coming under control, said TTD EO Sri MG Gopal.

TTD EO held a high level meeting with the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Sri B.Soma Sekhar Reddy, Sri SS Garbyal-Director General of Forests and Special Secretary GOI, Sri Shammi-Advisor Fire Services, GOI, DG Fire Services of AP Sri Andhra Pradesh Sri Samba Siva Rao in Annamaiah Bhavan on Thursday evening.

Later in the media conference, TTD EO thanked everyone who successfully carried out this joint co-operation. The EO said, Since the coming three months are considered to be delicate since it happens to be hot summer and there are chances for forest fires, it has been decided to constitute a committee with important officials of district Forest, Fire Fighting mechanism apart from JEO Tirumala and CVSO of TTD to have a regular watch on the forest cover of Seshachalam so that such incidents will not repeat in future and the committee will become functional from Friday – March 21 itself. EO said, the PCCF also agreed to fill the vacancies of Forest Range Officers, keeping special consideration for Tirumala. EO said, after monitoring the situation till Friday evening, the TTD will take a decision to send back the army choppers and force or not. TTD EO also complemented Army Pilot Sri Parandekar and his team for bringing the forest fire under control.

District Collector Sri Ramgopal, SP Sri Rajasekhar Babu, JEOs Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, Sri P.Bhaskar, CVSO Sri G Srinivas, CCF Sri Ravi kumar were also present.
